Looking At The 2022-23 Broadway Season in Indianapolis

The recently released Broadway in Indianapolis lineup for 2022-23 is filled with blockbuster hits, adaptations from animated classics, and music-filled masterpieces that will have you tapping your toes and singing along. This impressive collection of six shows is appealing to fans of all ages and promises to be a season to remember. Anastasia

Oct. 18-23, 2022, Murat Theatre at Old National Centre

A beloved animated classic adapted to the stage kicks off the Indianapolis Broadway Season in October at the famed Murat Theatre. This thrilling tale of self-discovery is filled with adventure, historical intrigue, and even a bit of romance. The story follows the brave Anya who attempts to uncover the truth of her past while being pursued by a tenacious Soviet officer. This musical was adapted by Terrence McNally and brought to life with a new score from Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. Show time is set at two hours and 25 minutes with one intermission. Recommended for ages seven and up, children ages four and older are welcome to attend.


Disney’s Aladdin

Nov. 15-20, 2022, Clowes Memorial Hall

You love the characters and know the songs from this 1992 animated classic or the live adaptation starring Will Smith. Now you have a chance to see one of your favorite Disney movies come to life on stage in Indianapolis at Clowes Memorial Hall. A broadway smash, Disney’s Aladdin is an explosion of color with impressive sets and elaborate costumes. The time-tested story follows Aladdin, Jasmine, and the lovable genie who try to stop the evil sorcerer Jafar from taking over the kingdom. Intended for all ages, the performance is set for two hours and 30 minutes with one intermission.


Hairspray

Feb. 21-26, 2023, Murat Theatre at Old National Centre

An uplifting musical with an infectious score kicks off the 2023 part of the Indianapolis Broadway season. Hairspray, known for songs like “Good Morning Baltimore” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat”, is sure to have you moving in your seat and singing along. The story takes you to 1960s Baltimore where teenager Tracy Turnblad dances her way onto the most popular TV show around. Light and fun on the surface, the show is underscored by its stance against segregation and racism. The performance is slated for two hours and 30 minutes and intended for ages eight and up.


Les Misérables

March 14-19, 2023, Clowes Memorial Hall

One of the world’s most popular musicals returns to the Indianapolis stage at Clowes Memorial Hall. A celebration of the human spirit, Les Misérables follows the life of Jean Valjean who overcomes an unjust imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his sister’s starving children. Set amidst the turbulence of 19th century France, this story of love, sacrifice, and redemption has enthralled viewers for generations and is one you won’t want to miss. Recommended for guests 10 and above, Les Misérables is two hours and 55 minutes in length with one intermission.


Hamilton

April 25 - May 7, 2023, Murat Theatre at Old National Centre

The award-winning masterpiece from Lin-Manuel Miranda makes its triumphant return to Indianapolis. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this musical tells the tale of America’s founding fathers while making a deep impact on today’s society. The fresh, catchy, and exhilarating score uses a bold mix of rap, R&B, jazz, and Broadway tunes. Come out and experience the musical that took the world by storm. Recommended for ages 10 and above due to some strong language, the show is set for two hours and 45 minutes with one intermission.


Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations

June 6-11, 2023, Clowes Memorial Hall
